What to Expect When You Visit GREFC

Some of what you're used to...some of what you're not.

When did your journey with God begin? Was it years ago—or just today? How big of a part has God played in your life? Have you ever wished there was more?

Whether you want to recapture a time in your life when you were constantly amazed by the truest things, or simply want to test the waters by experiencing God in your life for the first time, The Grand Rapids Evangelical Free Church is ready to welcome you.

Before the Service

Choose a service time:

The Grand Rapids Evangelical Free Church offers two services each Sunday at 9:00 am and 10:45 am. You will be warmly greeted at the door by members of the congregation and given a program which includes church events, announcements and a note taking sheet for the message.

Check in your children:

Nursery - Our nursery is for children 0-3 years of age.

Children's Church (9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.) - Children's Church is for children 3 years old to 2nd grade. The children have Bible Stories with the flannel board. They also learn about Jesus and the Word of God during prayer time as well as while they play games, read books, singing, do crafts, hike and have snacks.

Get settled:

At The Grand Rapids Evangelical Free Church, you will notice a casual atmosphere, and people of all ages and walks of life. You may sit wherever you will feel most comfortable.

During the Service

Worship:

This time is set aside for communicating with God from our hearts. Our worship team will lead us in upbeat, contemporary songs of celebration, as well as more intimate songs of worship. Many of the songs may be familiar to you if you listen to local Christian radio stations. Everyone worships in his or her own unique way – for many, that may mean raising hands, singing and clapping along, and for others it means quietly reflecting on the words. You’re welcome to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

Offering:

The Grand Rapids Evangelical Free Church does not pass an offering plate at its services. An offering is an act of giving between you and God. The regular congregation members do give each week as an act of worship in thanking God for all that He has done in their lives and to help support the many activities and missions of the church. As a guest, there is no obligation for you to give.

Message:

Every weekend, our pastor gives a relevant, straightforward message that is based on Scripture, and is designed to be helpful in your everyday life. These messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, and apply biblical teachings to your own life.

Communion:

The third Sunday of every month, we celebrate communion together. Anyone can participate in this time of reflection and prayer – as long they’ve made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. The juice and bread that we share represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ and the life he gave up so that our sins could be forgiven.

After the Service

Pick up your kids:

If your children were part of the Nursery or Children’s Church, you will want to go to that area and pick them up.

Fellowship:

The time in between services is a time for you join us for refreshments and for you to meet other people. It is also a time for you to ask questions about our church and the many activities we offer.
